Despite facing fierce competition in the convertible category from the likes of the Fiat 124 spider, the Mazda MX-5 has been awarded the prestigious title of the ‘Best Convertible’ by Britain’s leading monthly car review magazine.
What Car? Praised the ‘most entertaining car on the market’ as ‘rev-happy, with a punchy 2.0-litre engine, easy-to-use with a super-fast manual roof mechanism and handling that’s guaranteed to brighten your day’. In addition, particular attention was given to the ‘favourite SE-L Nav trim, infotainment system, climate and cruise control’. Supporting their verdict, What Car? stated the ‘Mazda MX-5 is a terrific two-seater convertible that’s great to drive’ with outstanding ride and handling balance, performance suited to UK roads and low running costs.
Collecting the What Car? Awards, Mazda Motors UK Managing Director, Jeremy Thomson, said ‘We’re delighted that What Car? has once again recognised the Mazda MX-5 convertible. The car is our brand icon and it embodies all that is great about our products. It’s fun to drive character has strengthened the bond between Mazda and its customers for 25 years’.
